Not sure which treatment is right for you?
How the pricing works at each pharmacy#
The price on a pack is only part of the picture. It also helps to know when you pay and whether you are signing up to anything.
Totiva#
The online consultation is free. A UK clinician reviews your answers. If treatment is suitable, you choose your medicine and pay then. If you are not approved, you pay nothing.
There is no subscription and no introductory price. You pay the same standard price on your first order as on later ones. When you run low, you reorder when you need to, not on a set schedule. You can see every current pack and price on our ED page at /services/ed.
Hims#
Hims works as a subscription model. There is no separate consultation fee, but you are charged before your treatment is approved. The Hims prices in the tables above are subscription prices, which we checked on 3 November 2026.
Because you pay before approval and as part of a subscription, it is worth checking a few things on the Hims website before you sign up: how often you will be billed, how to pause or cancel, and what happens to your payment if you are not approved.
Which is cheaper, Totiva or Hims?#
On prices checked on 3 November 2026, Totiva was cheaper at every compared pack. That is 14 out of 14 packs, comparing Totiva's standard prices with Hims subscription prices.
A fair comparison means the same medicine, the same strength and the same number of tablets. Comparing a 16-tablet pack at one pharmacy with an 8-tablet pack at another tells you very little. Line up like for like, and work out the cost per tablet if that helps.
Support and service#
ED treatment is personal, so it matters who you speak to when you have a question.
At Totiva#
- Your consultation is reviewed by a clinician.
- You will not be asked for awkward consultation photos.
- An identity face match may still be needed. This confirms you are who you say you are, which protects you and helps keep prescribing safe.
At Hims#
- Support is handled by AI bots.
If you would rather have a person to speak to, ask how to reach one before you pay, at any pharmacy.
Is Hims legit?#
The best way to answer this for any online pharmacy is to check it yourself. It takes a couple of minutes.
Start with the GPhC register. Every pharmacy in Great Britain that supplies medicines must be registered there. Search the pharmacy's name, then note the registration number and the address. The number on the pharmacy's own website should match.
Next, look for the pharmacy's inspection report. The GPhC inspects pharmacies and publishes the results. A report shows how well a pharmacy met the standards, including for online services.
What we can tell you about Hims is how it works. It is a subscription model, you are charged before your treatment is approved, there is no consultation fee, and support is handled by AI bots. Those are points about billing and service. They do not tell you whether a pharmacy is properly regulated, and you should not read them as a verdict on whether Hims is legitimate. Only the register and the inspection report can tell you that, so run those checks on Hims, and on any other pharmacy you are thinking of using.
You can check our own registration, 9012997, on the GPhC register.

Reading reviews of online pharmacies#
Reviews can be useful, but a single star rating hides a lot. A few habits help you get more from them:
- Read recent reviews. Services change. A review from 2 years ago may not reflect how things work now.
- Read the negative ones, and the replies. See how the pharmacy responds. A clear, helpful reply says a lot about its support.
- Watch for patterns. One late parcel is bad luck. Dozens of reviews about the same billing or delivery problem is a pattern.
- Separate a pharmacy complaint from a side effect. A headache or flushing after taking sildenafil or tadalafil is a known side effect of the medicine. It is not a sign the pharmacy did something wrong.
Who each service may suit#
Hims may suit you if:#
- You are comfortable with a subscription model and have checked how to pause or cancel.
- You are happy to pay before your treatment is approved, and have checked what happens to your payment if you are not approved.
- You do not mind support from AI bots rather than a person.
- You want a service with no separate consultation fee.
- You have checked Hims on the GPhC register.
Totiva may suit you if:#
- You want the lower price. Totiva was cheaper at every compared pack.
- You do not want a subscription.
- You want to pay nothing unless a clinician approves your treatment.
Whichever service you pick, the right medicine and dose is a decision for you and a clinician, based on your health.
Checking any online pharmacy in the UK#
Sildenafil and tadalafil for ED are prescription-only medicines. That means you need a consultation before a clinician can prescribe them. Viagra Connect and Cialis Together are pharmacy medicines. You do not need a prescription, but a pharmacist still needs to check they are safe for you.
Before you order from any website, check:
- The GPhC register. The pharmacy should be listed, with a matching registration number.
- The inspection report. Look at how the pharmacy did at its last inspection.
- That there is a consultation. A legitimate pharmacy will not supply a prescription medicine without one.
- Where you are buying. Do not buy ED medicines from social-media sellers or unregistered websites. Fake tablets can contain the wrong dose or other ingredients.
A consultation does not guarantee you will get treatment. Sometimes a clinician decides a medicine is not safe for you, or that you need to see your GP first. That is the system working as it should.
At Totiva, our ED consultation is for men aged 18 to 75.

When to speak to a clinician#
ED medicines are safe for most men, but not for everyone. Speak to a clinician before using them, and say so in any consultation, if any of these apply:
- You take nitrates (often used for chest pain, such as GTN spray) or riociguat (used for high blood pressure in the lungs).
- You get chest pain, especially with activity.
- You have had a stroke or heart attack recently.
- You have had an erection that does not go away.
When to get urgent help#
Get urgent help in any of these situations. Do not wait to see if it settles:
- An erection lasting more than 4 hours, or chest pain during sex. Call 999 or go to A&E.
- Sudden loss or change in your vision or hearing after taking an ED medicine. Stop taking the medicine and seek urgent medical help. This can be a sign of a rare but serious problem, such as non-arteritic anterior ischaemic optic neuropathy (NAION) or sudden sensorineural hearing loss.
If you would like to see whether treatment is right for you, you can start a free consultation. A UK clinician will review your answers, and you only pay if treatment is approved.
