When to get medical advice
Most GLP-1 side effects are mild and settle within a few weeks. Some symptoms need a doctor rather than treatment at home. Contact your GP or NHS 111 the same day if you have:
- Severe or constant stomach pain, including pain that spreads to your back
- Vomiting that won't stop, or you can't keep fluids down
- Blood in your vomit or poo, or black, tarry poo
- Signs of dehydration, such as dark pee, peeing very little, or feeling faint
- Yellowing of your skin or the whites of your eyes
- A high temperature
- Diarrhoea for more than 7 days
- A swollen stomach with no poo or wind for several days
- Call 999 or go to A&E if you feel very unwell.
